Our first opportunity to get involved with village life in Soulbury was to enter a Scarecrow in the fund-raising treasure hunt. Our scarecrow was called Pat - Pat Riotic - who was valiantly climbing the flagpole in our front garden to raise the Union Jack! Then we wandered around the village and looked at some of the other scarecrows on display, some of them were awesome! We took a break half way round for homemade scones in the church grounds, and rounded off with a pint in the Boot....

Have to tell you that my students found the concept of scarecrow 'awesome'! They wanted to know if there was a ritual burning of these effigies and if the children got upset? A bit confused with Guy Fawkes. The fact we have no crows doesn't help!!
